Open Roads. Road Trip

X35 Earthwalker Open Roads

Open Roads is an adventure game developed by ‘Open Roads Team’ and published by ‘Annapurna Interactive‘. Open Roads is said to come out the 22nd of February 2024 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 and pc. We at X35 Earthwalker think road trips can be fun. Open Roads is out here presenting a big road trip. Let’s take a look.

Open Roads is about two ladies. Tess and her mother, Opal. Opal is a cool name. They finally discovered a cache of old letters and notes in their attic stashed away. These papers revealed a lot of stuff. We talking big and deep family secrets. This includes burglaries… decade old ones. There’s a lot going on but Tess and Opal are on the case.

According to what we are hearing, there are some mysteries, even dark ones… ones that should be left alone. Off course our ladies Opal and Tess aren’t going to leave them alone. Were hear that there’s even a treasure That’s somewhere near the Canadian border. Open Roads truly is a road trip as they go to check out a whole series of long abandoned family properties where they will learn more and unearth the past.

We checked out some Open Roads gameplay and it’s what we expected. It’s a story more so than a game with the story being the main factor as well. Annapurna Interactive amazed many people with their story telling in a particular past game of theirs. So we do expect the story to be strong and interesting.  A good focus is placed on the mother and daughter relationship here as well. The music truly adds impact to a game like this and Open Road has got the music. They just got to piece it all together right.

Overall Open Roads looks like a great game. Players must lock in and get immersed in this world to get the most out of it. Emotions will be a big factor and paying attention to the details revealed. There are even things that Opal herself has tried to forget. What does she know? After all what’s done in the dark will be revealed in the light. Very nice graphics style and works with this game. The developers ‘Open Roads Team’ have done an excellent job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will keep an eye out for this game. Now Open Roads may have a emotional and deep story but it’s all children’s books level in the eyes of… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The visuals

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first person action adventure game developed by ‘Massive Entertainment‘ and published by ‘Ubisoft‘. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is said to be coming out the 7th of December 2023 on the Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and pc. X35 Earthwalker loves creativity and beautiful worlds. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora might have this. Let’s take a look. 

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is off course set on the world of Pandora. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has a standalone story. So be prepared to see some different stuff. Players will play as Na’vi. You will travel or should we say go on a journey across the ‘western frontier’. The western frontier is a part that hasn’t been seen before. This alone brings some excitement.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was developed for the next gen consoles. So imagine how great things will look on the Xbox Series X especially as the most powerful console. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is open world and so far the world looks beautiful. We are seeing vibrant colours and flora dominating the place as it should. This world is described as “living and reactive”. We will look to see if this is in fact true. If so, that would be a medium plus.

As Na’vi you have higher strength and mobility. So get moving and put that strength to use. Your character is customisable and players can craft new gear. Of course a game like this has upgrades. So improve those skills. Weapons can also be upgraded. Now hopefully Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has upgrades and abilities that work with the actual environment. The species native to Pandora are well adapted to the place and so we expect to see very suitable abilities that also allow for different play styles.

We checked out some Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora gameplay and it’s what we expected… for the most part. There’s characters to interact with and creatures in there that will be doing their thing. What for sure will be there is the RDA. Face them and push them back. It’s not going to be easy but… someone gots to do it. We do like that there is the traditional weapons route like the bows and spear throwing or you can go modern human with rifles and even a shotgun. So there are some options.

Overall Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora looks like a very good game. We like that players can bond with and ride a Banshee to traverse this big area and even engage in aerial combat with the RDA. There’s even some mystical looking structures and anomalies. A environment like Pandora should easily house numerous mysteries, ruins maybe artefacts. Developers better get creative with it. Definitely hoping to see more of what Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has to offer. The developers ‘Massive Entertainment’ have done an excellent job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will keep our eyes open for this game. Now Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora may have a never before seen environment but it’s obvious stuff for… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered. Wait

X35 Earthwalker Turok 3: Shadows of Oblivion remastered

Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered is an action adventure First Person Shooter game developed and published by ‘Nightdive Studios‘. Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion is said to be coming out the 14th of November 2023 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 and pc. X35 Earthwalker has many questions regarding this game. Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered out here wanting to bring back some experiences. Let’s take a look.

Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered is obviously a remaster. Not a remake. So players who are a fan of the Turk series should already know what to expect. Those who truly enjoyed Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion should definitely get a kick out of Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered. The remaster strongly implies there’s going to be a an upgrade in the visuals and graphics. at the bare minimum there has to be.

Here’s what was said about Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered, “it now supports gameplay on contemporary devices with impressive 4K resolution at 120FPS. This title complements the esteemed remasters of Turok and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, brought to life by Nightdive Studios, Universal Games, and Digital Platforms, rounding off the trilogy. The remastered version boasts refined gameplay, sharp high-resolution textures, advanced lighting and rendering, and gamepad support.”

Other from this we hear that Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered will also have more features like anti-aliasing, ambient occlusion, bloom, dynamic shadows and motion blur. There’s also updated weapon models, “remastered environment art” and better character models. On top of all that there are new achievements. So players have new things to fight and aim for… if you care about the achievements.   

X35 Earthwalker Turok 3: Shadows of Oblivion remastered

We checked out some Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered gameplay and it’s not really what we expected. We did expect the visuals to be better though. It’s easier said than done but we have seen better jobs. The performance is definitely much better though and that does matter a lot. Our main concern is the problem that almost every remaster game has which is what else do they offer. they don’t have top offer more but it definitely adds far more reason to get the remaster besides just playing it again. Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered being available on next gen and modern consoles is. big deal and added accessibility. X35 Earthwalker just always wants there to be some bonuses included.

Overall Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered does look like an alright game. Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion wasn’t out favourite Turok. We wanted more Turok evolution. That would be big move. The developers ‘Nightdive studios’ have done an alright job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to hear what this game does. Now Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered may have brought an upgrade but it’s too noticeable for… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Dead Island 2 ‘Haus’. Spooky?!

X35 Earthwalker Dead Island 2 'Haus'

Dead Island 2 ‘Haus’ is the new story expansion developed by ‘Dambuster studios‘ and published by ‘Deep Silver‘. Dead Island 2 ‘Haus’ is said to be coming out the 2nd of November 2023 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and pc. X35 Earthwalker sees the twist that this expansion is bringing. Dead Island 2 ‘Haus’ is coming in hot. Let’s take a look.

Dead Island 2 ‘Haus’ already has out attention due to one major change that it appears to bring. First and foremost players will get a whole new area to explore and battle in… Malibu. There’s a cult there and off course a billionaire is involved. More like running things. It has been described as a psycho horror dreamscape. This is a whole new storyline and it fits into Dead Island 2 timeline as the ending had players character stay behind to do a search for a specific character. So it fits.

Now time for some new stuff. New weapons. There’s the K-rossbow which is long ranged and described as powerful. There’s another called the “Dead Islands”. That’s now you know it’s crazy powerful as it’s named after the game basically. It’s said to “take the weight off their shoulders whilst they smash undead enemies into oblivion”. There’s also a flame thrower basically called a Hog Roaster. So that’s good to see. Flamethrower vs zombies sounds like fun. 

There’s more cards now as well. 8 new cards to be exact. We ain’t saying what they do. Learn for yourself. This techno death cult is going to be a problem. Not for the mighty character that X35 Earthwalker created though. Easy work. For the rest of you Dead Island 2 players, this should be a battle. So get ready to see the cult leader hq… Konstantin’s 1960s modern style villa… which sucks.

X35 Earthwalker Dead Island 2 'Haus'

We checked out Dead Island 2 ‘Haus’ gameplay and it’s what we expected. Sadly it’s so far underwhelming for us. More like standard Dead Island 2… which isn’t bad as Dead Island 2 is an excellent game. We had lots of fun. We were just hoping for things to take a more scary turn. We see some attempts though. Things are definitely darker and there’s some Bramble: The mountain king type stuff going on in there… sort off. Watch out for a pig. Trust us.

Overall Dead Island 2 ‘Haus’ looks like it’s going to be a good experience for sure. Dead Island 2 players got something new to look forward to with a whole new storyline. How crazy will this cult be? Will there be new or variants of the zombies? We have questions and will wait to see. The developers ‘Dambuster studios’ have done a good job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will listen up for what this expansion dlc has to offer. Dead Island 2 ‘Haus’ may have a cult in Malibu but they are just small fry compared to… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Slender: The Arrival 10 Year Anniversary Update

Slender: The Arrival 10 year anniversary update is the adventure horror game developed by ‘Blue Isle studios‘. Slender: The Arrival 10 year anniversary update is said to be coming out the 18th of October 2023 on the Xbox Series X, PS5 and pc. X35 Earthwalker has stepped on slender man multiple times. He’s not an issue to him. Slender: The Arrival 10 year anniversary update wants to bring some scares and memories. Let’s take a look.

Slender: The Arrival 10 year anniversary update automatically just brings back memories for many gamers. Slender man at one point was very popular and made sure that people stayed out of the woods. X35 Earthwalker still went through a forest. The whole premise was that you collected pages. 8 pages and as you got more and more of them, the slender man was more aggressive, got closer and gave you more issues. Do not look at Slender man and most importantly never touch him either. That’s all.

Then there was Slender: The arrival which was the full fledge game for slender man. You had a story. You had to actually travel somewhere. There was more objectives, usually just finding multiple of something like generators to move on to the next area. There was multiple levels and even. second threat. Some called her kate or something. We do not care. Overall a much better game that the first little test taste for player that was the 8 pages. Slender man still behaved the same way for the most part but Kate was the one who chased you down and you had to deal with her. This means there are expectations for Slender: The Arrival 10 year anniversary update.

Slender: The Arrival 10 year anniversary update is suppose to be a much better version of the previous arrival game… in every way. Read what they said about the game, “official re-imagining and expansion of the original game, featuring a brand-new storyline, new characters, improved visuals, great replay value, and most importantly, survival horror at its best”. Now that is just crazy. If accurate then Slender: The Arrival 10 year anniversary is clearly not just a remaster. There’s whole new stuff.

What sounds like complete cap right now is that whole “survival horror at its best” part. That’s a mighty claim and we will see for ourselves. New characters which hopefully means slender man has more friends to bring into the party. Hopefully the whole games design makes more sense and they make it more realistic and relatable. Will the adventure take place over a whole town in different areas or will it just be another abandoned factory or whatever.

We checked out some Slender: The Arrival 10 year anniversary update gameplay and it’s what we expected. It looks familiar but a step up in quality. We like how the woods and trees looks. Slender man does look lack buster though. Not intimidating at all. The game definitely looks more expansive. Can’t see what would make this game “survival horror at its best”. There’s a lot to see and we hope that it all gets seen.  

Overall Slender: The Arrival 10 year anniversary update looks like it’s going to be a good game. It’s slender man so we know what to expect by now. If you don’t then this might just be a new experience for you. We hop eat escape and encounters are done well. The developers ‘Blue Isle studios’ have done a good job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker aren’t looking forward to this game but we know many are. Slender: The Arrival 10 year anniversary update may have a improved and expanded adventure but it’s not spooky enough for… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Shuyan Saga. Chinese Martial arts

Shuyan Saga is a action adventure game developed by ‘Lofty Sky Entertainment’ and published by ‘ESDigital Games‘. Shuyan Saga is said to be coming out on the 22nd of September 2023 on Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and PS4. Shuyan Saga was already out on iOS, Android and pc back in like 2017 or something. X35 Earthwalker like to see what games got and give them a chance. Shuyan Saga trying to wow with the graphics. Let’s take a look.

Shuyan Saga is set in the world of ancient Chinese culture. Shuyan is a princess, of the Chinese imperial family, who wants to be a true kung fu warrior and stop the Guer horde. The Guer horde have made it their goal to destroy the five kingdoms. This is also a personal matter as Shuyan lost everything to the goer invasion. She got to get good and get good real quick. The invasion is only beginning.

We got one question for the wise reader of this G Blog. Who is the real enemy? Hmmmmmm. “Success is not what Shuyan perceived it to be.” This alone should get players thinking concerning the story and the world of Shuyan Saga. The story and adventure revolves around the five kingdoms. Each kingdom was built on the foundations of kung fu. so pay attention to each one’s culture and values. Also take note that the player can make some choices in Shuyan Saga. Your choices just might matter.

The main factor on the table with Shuyan Saga is the martial arts itself. How good is the fighting? The battles have been described as “skill-based”. There’s different fighting styles and each one has their own moves and functions. There are light and heavy attacks, combos of course and special abilities which are said to be powerful. There’s over 300 combat animations and motion capture is involved. X35 Earthwalker is the best at motion capture. Expect unique fights.

X35 Earthwalker Shuyan Saga

We checked out some Shuyan Saga gameplay and it’s not exactly what we expected. It seems like more story book and less gameplay. Yes we are aware it’s a graphical novel but a game must have a good amount of gameplay with more fullness to it and more mobility especially for chinese martial arts.. So that’s the main negative we can see with Shuyan Saga right now. Regardless it’s still an experience. The animations of the combat could look better but there’s clear-ish distinction between the moves. After all X35 Earthwalker himself is a martial artist.

Overall Shuyan Saga looks like a very good game. Lots of work went into this game clearly. From the graphic style and details to the animations and cinematic. This is quite the adventure and the princess, Shuyan herself, has an excellent design. She look good. The story in the chapters and the book style is different fun. Colourful and detailed. The developers ‘Lofty Sky Entertainment’ have done a very good job. Tings should be better since Shuyan Saga is coming to consoles. X35 Earthwalker will keep an ear open for this game when it comes to console. Shuyan Saga may have loads of kung fu but their king fu is too weak for… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Super Bomberman R 2. More Bombs

Super Bomberman R 2 is an action adventure game developed and published by ‘Konami’. Super Bomberman R 2 is said to be coming out the 13th of September 2023 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 and pc. X35 Earthwalker‘s crew truly enjoyed the first game. Super Bomberman R 2 is clearly trying to make a blast… make a boom… explode on to the scene… we have more of these and can go on. Let’s take a look.

Super Bomberman R 2 is bringing back what we know. The Bomberman family is back. They are still silly, dysfunctional, funny and getting the job done. There’s another threat in the universe. The Bomberman brothers and their new friends, the ellons, have to save the universe… again. So that’s the story basically. It’s a Bomberman game after all. 

X35 Earthwalker Super Bomberman R 2

Super Bomberman R 2 is something that’s on our screens for sure. There’s lots to do in the previous game and now there’s even more. There’s even a whole new game mode too, that’s going to make players get tactical and think more. The story unlocks as you explore the planets which is a cool change. Makes exploration impactful and necessary. You go to do it. Use your bombs to blow things up, progress and defeat your foes. We hear there’s even a secret puzzle. Players may need to find hints for it.

Multiplayer in Super Bomberman R 2 is pretty much how we remember it. Use your bombs to blow up your enemies, outplay, outwit, or trap them. Whatever. It’s freaking Bomberman. You should know what to do. This also includes the 64 player mode. So yeah… the more the merrier… maybe. X35 Earthwalker won his very first 64 player battle Royale match… in his first match. That’s how good he is. Maybe he will do it again.

Now concerning the new mode, it’s called ‘Castle’. Here’s how it works. It’s a battle mode with a maximum of 16 players. Two teams. There’s an attack side and the castle side. Castle side is the defence side. It’s a battle over treasure chests and their keys off course. The castle side must defend the treasure chests and keys. There’s gimmicks available and even the Ellons. Use them well. Even better are these weapons the castle players can use. There’s three weapon types to take into battle but you must pick one. Each have conditions for players to meet, to charge the weapon. Use weapon when fully charged. Super Bomberman R 2 keeping it simple.

On top of this there’s an editor so you can custom build your own stages. Put in your gimmicks, set in some walls and finally test your stage yourself. Once it’s complete and works, then you can upload it. Add tags to it so it’s easier to find. You can easily find other players designed stages too and give them a run through.

We checked out some Super Bomberman R 2 gameplay and it’s what we expected. The animations, especially when it comes to the celebrations, seem to be a step up. The explosions are better too overall when it comes to details. After the flash of yellow/orange and red you then get the black smoke. Now hopefully this signifies whether it’s safe to proceed through their path or not is yet to be explored.  The new mode is welcome for sure as it’s just more options and more ways to play. There’s quite a bit more they can actually do here.

Overall Super Bomberman R 2 looks like it’s going to be a blast just like the previous game. The matter of how smooth the gameplay will be, especially when compared to the previous one, matters. It’s colourful and looks fun as always. There are few questions concerning the multiplayer modes but these things can be found. The developers ‘Konami’ have done a fantastic job so far. X35 Earthwalker is looking forward to using bombs. Super Bomberman R 2 may have more explosions and a castle but those two get nothing down in the presence of… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Under the Waves. Deep Stuff

X35 Earthwalker Under the Waves

Under the Waves is a narrative adventure game developed by ‘Parallel studios‘ and published by ‘Quantic Dream‘. Under the Waves is said to be coming out the 29th of august 2023 on the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and pc. Under the Waves is clearly trying to do something deep here. X35 Earthwalker has tamed the deep and so will be the judge here. Let’s take a look.

In Under the Waves players control a dude called Stan. He’s a professional diver. He’s in deep… literally. In the ocean under the waves all by himself. The year is 1970 and it’s a futuristic advanced 1970 to have this kind of tech. Stan is having a struggle in his mind. He experienced a “life-changing loss”. He can’t seem to get over it and move forwards. He’s got a decision to make. What will he do?

X35 Earthwalker Under the Waves

Smart move by Under the Waves. Now Stan being in the north sea is actually a good representation of his situation. He is all alone and isolated from the rest of people. Yet Stan mentally isolated himself and made himself all alone. He is right where he wants to be. Can he stay there forever though? As he gets deeper in his mental isolation, things start to happen in the ocean. As in strange events… deep down. 

X35 Earthwalker Under the Waves

We checked out some Under the Waves gameplay and it’s mostly what we expected. Under the Waves stays having you dive down into the ocean. Mix of gameplay and cinematic to make the ocean more active. Use the submarine and see different things. Things like a sunken ship. Big cool creatures like even a whale. Under the Waves has Stan equipped with a special wetsuit. Expect underwater plants and even plants. They got a story here so pay attention. Heard it was deep. 

Overall Under the Waves seems like a good game. The graphics are very good. The lighting is very good. The visuals could have been better. The ocean with all the life in it needs to be presented and displayed in excellent levels. It needs to be big. Also looking so big compared to us. Lots of life and look the part. The ocean is arguably going to be the biggest thing for us concerning Under the Waves. Hopefully the story will be as narrative driving and deep as we hope… and as portrayed by the developers. The developers ‘Parallel studios’ have done a good job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to see what it brings forth. Now Under the Waves may be in the ocean but it ain’t deep enough for… the ‘Earth Walk!’

The Expanse: A Telltale Series. Here we go

X35 Earthwalker The Expanse: A Telltale Series

The Expanse: A Telltale Series is a narrative adventure game developed by ‘TellTale games‘ and ‘Deck Nine games‘. The Expanse: A Telltale Series episode 1 is said to be coming out the 27th of July 2023 on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 and pc. X35 Earthwalker is very aware of the Telltale series games. Time for a new adventure. The Expanse: A Telltale Series might be up to something here. Let’s take a look.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series episode 1 is all the way up in space. So yeah, there’s no jumping ship this time. You basically follow a lady called Camina Drummer on a ship called the Artemis. Her choices of course will determine everything. You know the drill by now… it’s a Telltale game. There’s a mutiny… a bloody one. So yeah, not everything is as it seems, think about things clearly, get ready for quick time events and pay attention to clues.

X35 Earthwalker The Expanse: A Telltale Series

Now comparisons will always be made. Previous Telltale titles either had illusions, human threats or monsters. It’s looking like human threats again. The mutiny will probably be the most in your face threat but there’s also going to be space pirates… no, not Metroid space pirates. Actual raid, attack and probably board type pirates.

X35 Earthwalker The Expanse: A Telltale Series

We checked out some The Expanse: A Telltale Series gameplay and it’s what we expected for sure. Exploration is the key thing in the game. This time you are exploring in space, on the outskirts of an asteroid belt. You will even get the chance to scavenge wrecked ships… in zero g. Hint to players: Camina Drummer’s resolve matters here. Those who know the story already through certain media will haver an advantage here. We prefer jumping in blind and getting the new experience. 

Overall The Expanse: A Telltale Series looks like an alright game. We have sort of low expectations for this game. We know exactly what we want from this game as well. Visually it looks very good. The voice acting is very good too. There’s a lot of character interaction as well. Wonder if betrayal gets thrown into the mix. The developers ‘TellTale games‘ and ‘Deck Nine games‘ have done a veery good job so far. Looks like a lot of work went into it. We at X35 Earthwalker will keep an eye open for this game. Now The Expanse: A Telltale Series may have dangers in space but those are simple stuff compared to… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Rain World is an action adventure game developed by ‘Videocult‘ and published by ‘Akupara games‘. Rain world is coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox One on the 12th of July 2023. It’s already out on other platforms since 2017. Rain World has what’s called a Slugcat. X35 Earthwalker has intel on Slugcats in the archives. Rain World coming to Xbox means a new experience. Let’s take a look. 

Rain World has players take control of a Slugcat. Well not just a Slugcat but a nomadic Slugcat. He on the move. On the hunt for food. Enough food to get through the hibernation cycle. The mission is simple but so is the problem. The Slugcat is in a food chain. It’s a prey and predator. So watch out concerning those bigger creatures out there. They be getting hungry! Word on the streets is that Slugcats are tasty. Some even say that Slugcats are delicious.

X35 Earthwalker Rain World

Rain World does make it clear that you are not alone. You got separated from your family. So the other goal is to reunite with them. There is strength in numbers after all. Don’t forget to find shelter as there are next level torrential downpours which will destroy you and maybe drown all life. Make your way through ancient ruins and off course square up with some bigger and dangerous creatures. There’s quite a bit going on in Rain World so be prepared.

X35 Earthwalker Rain World

We checked out some Rain World gameplay and it’s basically what we expected. Rain World does remind us of a certain other game in some ways. That game is Abe’s Exodus. We like the whole food chain survival situation. We like the agility of the Slugcat and how he moves. The predators do look dangerous but we hope they have a bit more intelligence. The water looks cool in this game and the variety of threats are good too. flying foes and even an annoying centipede. Hopefully the scary rain plays an actual role in the gameplay.

Overall Rain World looks like a good game. Reviewers have rated it on the lower side but we will have to see for ourselves on the Xbox Series X. This is going to be an adventure for sure and probably got a lot of panic causing moments. The colours and visuals definitely should have been better. The developers ‘Videocult’ have done a good job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to keep an eye open concerning this game. Now Rain World may have tasty Slugcats but they ain’t tasty enough for… the ‘Rain World’.
