Halo Wars 2 is absolutely amazing. The graphics, sounds and whole gaming mechanics are top notch. Even the matches can be intense and take up some time. Halo Wars 2 is even more strategic than the prequel. More leader characters that brings more flavour and options to the matches. Even so, there are some big issues concerning balancing.

Straight up we are going to say it. The Banished have a big advantage over UNSC and it’s big enough that it makes a difference in every match. Seriously. The biggest advantage is the fact that Banished bases get the chance to place shields in the turret sections. These shields are powerful and soak up all kinds of damage. Why is that so bad? Didn’t Halo Wars 1 have shields. Well yes but their shields occupied a slot for building like energy generators, and supply pads. So if you wanted to stack two shields then that’s two less slots for you. The shields in Halo Wars 2 are more powerful because if the shield was dropped due to too much damage but another shield gets built, instantly the shield goes up regardless of whether the base is taking damage or not. The if another shield is built in time then it’s a double layer straight away. Also any Banished (or allies of the banished) withing the shields are protected and take significantly less damage until the shield drops. The problem is that an UNSC army would spend a hard time fighting the enemy army and lose because the shields protect the enemy army but if through leader powers and other means beat the army then you still have the shields which lasts long but skilled banished players leave a slot at the back ready for when they get attacked just to build another shield for instant shield regeneration. It’s so unfair. Don’t listen to stupid who say it isn’t an issue when it clearly is.

The next big Banished advantage are the Banshees. The banshees are practically the strongest units in the game. Surely X35 Earthwalker is exaggerating though. No we aren’t. We have seen a group of banshees beat wolverines and reavers of same group size. We aren’t joking. X35 Earthwalker himself has had his banshees beat anti-vehicle units many times even when there were more of them and vice versa he had his anti-air vehicles lose to banshees. How does that work? How do air units beat anti-air units? Sure air has a advantage over vehicles but anti-air is ANTI-AIR, full stop. Now in recent matches pretty much every Banished character user is always using banshees in great numbers. Either full population of banshees with engineers or half locusts (or something) mixed with them. It gets boring and predictable. It’s too strong. Banshees are suppose to be main air vehicles, in other words basic air units but their strength is much higher. Thanks to their own anti-air upgrade, they can take on two groups at the same time. The anti-air lets them attack nightingales and hornets while their fuel rod cannons and main plasma guns can fire at tanks, wolverines and whatever. That doesn’t sound fair at all.

Lastly, many, almost all, banished players are copying and using the chopper rush and then get engineers as fast as possible. It just makes matches boring now and predictable. X35 Earthwalker himself likes discovering and trying new strategies to accomplish different things. Some work and some don’t. This is how he ended up discovering a big secret. Choppers are vehicles. They are stronger than jack rabbits. They counter marines very well. They counter hellbringers. The way to beat them is to rely on your marines and turrets but that strategy is defensive, meaning while you stay near your base, the banished players can grab power nodes, mini bases and control the map. If you go out there then your marines will get caught by the choppers who can also ram for maximised damage. If you get the grenade throw ability for your marines then you can destroy some but you would have spent so much energy that the banished players will reach tier 2 way before the UNSC do. It’s not fair either way you look at it.

So basically Banished have the advantage in defense, early game and mid game. This stuff has put some of us off the game for a while because unless we also play as banished, mainly Atriox, Decimus and Colony, you will have a real hard time. Until this is fixed we won’t be playing this game as frequently as before. Either way, this is what we and many others have experienced. If you are a banished player then aren’t you happy but if not, you could always do… The ‘Earth Walk!’

Bomberman Battlefest is crazy. Crazy fun. Crazy good. Crazy intense. If you haven’t played Bomberman Battlefest then we understand as it is quite old-ish now but it’s one of those games where you can keep playing for years to come. Want proof? When X35 Earthwalker is still by a nintendo gamecube he will still sometimes play Pario party, Pikmin and Monkey balls which were all fantastic games but old. Bomberman battlefest is one of those games because of how simple it is to play but how deep, competitive and intense it can really get.

Intense? Don’t you just run around and blow up blocks and your opponents in Bomberman battlefest? Yes but so much more. When you play against easy difficulty bots then it feels like that but when you play against 3 hard difficulty bots then it becomes a struggle. The bots dodge bombs like they were paid to do it. They will do tricky things like throw and punch bombs out of the arena just for it to bounce around to the otherside and trap you. Yes we admit one of us did get trapped by this before. It’s embarrassing but it happens. Many times it comes down to sudden death to beat the bots as they have problems with falling blocks. Just wait. It gets crazier. It’s up to 8 players. So imagine a all against all standard battle mode against 7 hard difficulty bots. It becomes chaotic. Wait! It gets crazier.

The types of bombs are to blame. The power bomb makes your bomb blast go all the way to the edges of the arena. The remote control bomb lets you detonate bombs when you want. Pass through bomb (use to be spike bomb) allows your bomb blasts to pass through soft blocks instead of stopping at one. Laser bombs explode when someone crosses the laser lines it sets up. Cluster bomb sends out a bomb to the left, right and forward when it explodes. Rocket bombs travel in the direction you was facing when you placed it and then explodes after hitting something solid. Dangerous bomb explodes not in lines but squares, at max range this covers one quarter of the arena. Now imagine everyone fighting to get these and combine them with fire ups to increase bomb blasts, speed ups to move faster and bomb ups so that they can drop more. There are more power ups that help like power glove which lets you pick up and throw bombs. Double special which lets you drop 2 of your special bombs at a time and ‘Barrier-drop’ which lets you drop in a soft block. Now play against 3 of your friends and see how hectic things can and will get.

One of X35 Earthwalker’s favourite is when you play an all against all battle game mode on the giant map. It’s basically a standard level but with a much bigger arena. Here all players get a bit of a chance to breathe and then kick of the battle. The worse part is that bots will target you more than each other so the pressure is constantly on. A rocket bomb flying over there. A laser bomb prevents you from getting to that side of the arena. Some crazy guy running around dropping max range dangerous bombs forcing everyone to run away for their lives. Lastly there’s always that one player who stays away from everyone and keeps kicking bombs towards the others from a safe distance. That dirty coward. It’s also about speed. You must start off fast and not waste a second. Plant bombs as fast as possible and get power ups as fast as possible. The most important power ups are definitely speed ups as they allow you to compete for other power ups better and evading bombs become much easier. Off course more bombs and more blast range is also important but the main thing is to get them and keep the advantage. There is nothing worse than going up against players that are literally moving twice as fast as you. You never get power ups and they try to trap you in between bombs.

The ultimate intense strategy is when you and 3 friends take on 4 human player or even worse, hard difficulty bots in Zombie mode. This is where the real challenge comes. The aim of zombie is to paint the arena floor with your colours by your bomb blasts. Off course anyone can take over your coloured sqaures. Everyone is invincible as in they come back after every death but everytime you die you lose all your power ups and they are scattered across the arena for everyone to take take for themselves. So now what happens when the player on your team with the most power ups dies and your enemies get some of the scattered items? Winning becomes that much harder. Your top bomber could be the player with the power bomb painting many squares with one bomb. So your team makes sure to protect him but then that player dies and it’s a mad scramble. The worst is when someone has ‘Double special’, dangerous bomb and full fire. They control the whole match. Oh yeah, by the way, it’s all friendly fire so watch out for your teams bombs as well.

Not too long ago X35 Earthwalker did some serious Bomberman tournament and the matches were so intense. The bots are not easy at all. They are really tough. The best was the team zombie matches. It got to the point where the matches came down to 4-4. whoever won would have won the whole tournament. Lots of laughs, screams and strategies with a hint of frustration included for some gamers. We have never got so tactical for some fun matches before. All we are saying is that Bomberman Battlefest is absolute gold in terms of fun. Play with family, friends or even solo, it doesn’t matter. X35 Earthwalker will do some livestreams and videos of this game and the action it brings in the future so make sure to follow him on Twitter and Mixer to know when.

Chess ultra is a brand new chess simulation game, developed by ‘Ripstone’ and coming out the 23rd of June for Xbox One but earlier for PS4, PC, Oculus, Vive and playstation VR on June 21st.

Now we are sure that everyone knows Chess. It’s been around for years and we have all pretty much played it on the computer at school or wherever; however not everyone has heard of Chess Ultra. Chess Ultra is supposed to be the ultimate chess action. This games biggest point as of right now is it’s visuals. Some have described it as breath taking. It’s 4k visuals and boy does the game look good.

This won’t exactly be chess as you know it. There is Marathon, Blitz and classical mode. Multiple difficulty modes. Make your way from novice to grandmaster. If you have the intellectual might. There are 10 grandmaster approved AI levels. So Chess Ultra shouldn’t be a walk in the park at all.

Do not worry if you haven’t had much chess experience or don’t think you got the moves for it because Chess Ultra is said to have in depth tutorials which will teach you everything about the world of Chess. Play chess in multiple environments and surroundings. You can play with different chess piece designs. There is a nicely carved set of wood chess pieces, then there’s ones that look like glass or marble. Finally we have see ones that look like angels and monsters like they were carved from emerald or precious stones. It does look cool.

Yes Chess Ultra does have online multiplayer so now players can prove there skills to the world. Who is the best at chess? Things get more crazy though. Remember how Chess Ultra has full Oculus Rift, VR and HTC Vive support? Well those with virtual reality gear can not only use their hands to move the pieces themselves but they get the chance to take on the ultimate challenge. Something so terrifying that even we think twice about talking about it. They can take on the Grim Reaper in the pits of Gomorrah! That’s right. The Grim Reaper himself awaits the best of the best (like us).

Overall from what we have seen Chess Ultra is looking real awesome right now in terms of visuals and very good in terms of what it offers players. Hopefully the music will be mostly ambiance to suit the concentration mood. Some cool music will be great as well. The developers, ‘Ripstone’ did an amazing job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker will actually look forward to seeing what a chess game has to offer. Is chess boring? That’s a question but the real question is.., what is the ‘Earth Walk?!’

Get Even is a new first person shooter action game developed by ‘The farm 51’. Get Even is coming out June 23rd for Xbox One, PC and PS4. This game has gotten a lot of attention from some gamers but there isn’t much information on the game, not even the official website has much information at all which is just bad, the website should have information but maybe the developers did that on purpose because it’s release is some time away.

On steam it says, “Black – an ice-cold mercenary and hired gun – awakes in a mysterious old asylum with no memory of his past. Under the guidance of his anonymous captor, ‘Red’, Black embarks on a form of treatment, facilitated by a unique technology – a headset that allows the user to relive their memories and experience them again in the present. And so Black tries to remember. With the help of the ‘Pandora’ headset, he travels into the depths of his own mind to explore the truth behind the only thing he can remember: the rescue attempt of a teenage girl with a bomb strapped to her chest.”

This game reminds me of that movie called ‘Deja vu’ where Denzil washington and a group had a device that allowed them to watch events from the past in present time. It’s a great concept and hopefully Get Even does it well. There’s a bit more to it though. Get Even is trying to merge single and multiplayer together. What do you mean you ask? Basically when you go on a single-player mission, other gamers on the network can join the mission as well but as enemies, this means that players never know whether their opponents are human or just CPU. Sounds crazy but awesome and frustrating. Imagine playing Gears of war 4 story mode trying to beat it in insane difficulty when that swarm grenadier in the back is a real player wall bouncing towards you with the shotgun. The rage is real!

Overall this game has a awesome new game mechanic behind it and we at X35 Earthwalker truly want to see the developers ‘The farm 51’ make this work as it this would not be a simple mechanic to make work and balanced. Both the graphics and sounds are good. This game is worth checking out.

The Elder Scrolls online: Morrowind is the new DLC expansion developed by ‘Bethesda Game Studios®’, and will be coming out June 6th for Xbox One, PC and PS4. Now this expansion is said to be huge. Said to even provide up 80 hours of new gameplay. So basically Elder Scrolls just got bigger.

The main story is where you must find the source of the evil blight that plagues the land, or if you like to explore then you can. There will be interesting locations and you’ll get the chance develop your character based on your decisions and actions throughout the game. Check out previously seen locations like Ashlands, Seyda Neen, Vvardenfell, an under-construction Vivec City, and more. You must head to the capital city of Morrowind, called Mournhold, which by the way are weird names, to meet the other two god-kings of Morrowind, Sotha Sil and Almalexia. The Clockwork City of Sotha Sil and massive, epic-sized dungeons, where strange and deadly creatures await you. Such creatures include lich lords, goblins, and new but little known about beings called Fabricants.

Probably the biggest thing about Elder Scrolls Morrowind is that it’s said to allow you to play any character imaginable. You can even be a werewolf and go on the hunt. We like werewolves here. So you can decide whether to defend the colony and decide how it will be built while defending against the werewolves or you can join the werewolves and ruin some dreams. The Elder Scroll Morrowind really has a bundle for gamers to try for themselves. The expansion even has new weapons and armour like ice blades and the nordic.

Overall from what we know and have seen the game does look like a step from the prequel. It’s basically an expansion DLC for Elder Scrolls which adds more areas, enemies, weapons, armour and more. This is great as more of any game you love, is always welcome. We at X35 Earthwalker will keep an eye on this game to see what else will be included but either way the developers, ‘Bethesda Game Studios®’ worked really hard on this and it shows. This game might be worth checking out.

Dragon Bros is a new 2D run & gun adventure game developed by ‘Space Lizard Studio LTD’ and coming out May 31st for the Xbox One and PS4 but already out on PC. This game seem like another one of those fun easy games that you could casually play.

The story is the traditional rescue story. There are four dragons. Four dragons who are teenagers which is totally radical dude. Their mother has been kidnapped and so the boys head out to rescue her. Players will control the Dragon Bros. Your enemy? The Mechaliches. They are an evil robotic society. According to the website, they survived the collapse of a technologically advanced alien civilization. So now the Dragon Bros must run, gun, charge and blast their way through the Mechaliches and get mummy back. Talk about good sons.

The Mechaliches are robots for sure and as true robots they have many units and functions. That’s right. There are robots that won’t stop shooting at you, others drop bombs, others lob things at you, some fly around, some have a shield in front of them, some fly and shoot, Some just want to punch you, some fly and drop bombs, some are slow but tough, some are sniping you. That’s not all. Some of the enemies are robotic enemies that move, while others are structures like shield generator, huge fan, turret, enemy factory, traps. Stuff like that. The Dragon Bros have their work cut out for them.

The Dragon Bros will get some help though. There are multiple power ups for the brothers to collect and use. The main power ups and are upgrades to your weapons. Super laser, naval cannon, Machine gun and more. There are heath packs as well. The Dragon Bros are rewarded for destroying things. Kids these days. Back in my day we use skip and play tag… anyway, every form of destruction will grant the player scraps which is score. You can use the scraps to unleash your weapons super powers for a few seconds which grants: higher damage, larger splash area, bigger bullets, increased range, bouncy projectiles, secondary effects. Stuff like that.

The best part of Dragon Bros is that it is co-op. 2 Player action. So you can take on and fight the Mechaliches with your family or friends. Save your mum together. The developers have quoted that more levels and updates are coming in the future. So expect more to do.

Overall this game looks simple and fun. We checked out some game play and the whole thing just looks like fun. Old style but futuristic. The developers, ‘Space Lizard Studio LTD’ did a good job. We at X35 Earthwalker look forward to seeing what Dragon Bros does.

Shadow Warrior 2 is a first person shooter game developed by ‘Flying Wild Hog’. It is the sequel to Shadow warrior 1 (We are sure you guessed that). It’s coming out May 19th for Xbox One and PS4 but already out on PC. Now this looks like a game that we want to play and try for ourselves.

Shadow Warrior 2 takes place 5 years after the prequel. Lo Wang’s actions has stopped one problem but created another. There is now a new order where demons and humans live side by side. Lo Wang is currently a hired sword, like an assassin. There is this one mission that goes wrong and now he has new enemies: A cult leader, a new drug called ‘Shade’ and a brilliant scientist. This forces him to do what he does best. Grab some powerful guns, wield some magic and use some swords. The battles have gotten crazier.

X35 Earthwalker instantly liked this game simply because it was action packed, fighting demons, and fast flowing. It’s brutal. For some games this works very well. There are over 70 firearms and blades for you to wield and use against the enemies. There are hand claws, katanas, crescent blades and short swords. Find your favourite and put it to work. We have seen firearms that function like rifles, shotguns and even dual wield smgs. This game so far does not lack variety. Also if you pre-order the Shadow Warrior 2 you get the ‘Razor back katana’. Basically a katana but lined with chainsaws around the edge.

Shadow warriors have a lot of features and details for gamers to use. First of all, the environments are procedural generated. Meaning that missions will always have different action and looks keeping everything fresh and new to some extent. When in combat there is a system which allows you to use blades to cut of the enemies heads, or limbs. This allows you to fight strategically and have more control over your actions. There is a upgrade system as well. You can do this by equipping them with stones which can grant your weapons elemental effects and improve their performance. So things like damage and having fire damage on blades and guns we believe. Find and equip armour and karma amulets to boost Lo Wang even more. Things are getting crazier and crazier.

The enemies aren’t short on variety either. There are advanced human enemies, humanoid demon and straight up demons all waiting for the chance to destroy you. So you must pick the right weapons to deal with the enemies that you face. Some demons are large, while some carry weapons. Some strike you with magic and power while others prefer to claw, slam and smash you to bits. Don’t let that happen.

Best of all Shadow warriors has four player co-op. All this mad action and you can share it all with your friends, family etc. Imagine four gamers just rushing around, blasting holes through demons, slicing of enemy limbs and heads while blowing everything up together.

We have checked out some gameplay and we can confirm that it is excellent. The fights are fast pace and required the gamer to think fast and keep dishing out the pain to the enemies. Switching at anytime between swords for melee slicing action, to demon shredding guns is quick and painless (for you anyway). The enemies don’t wait for their turn in Shadow warriors 2. The little ones rush to attack you. The big ones with weapons will keep up their assault while blades are coming your way. Use magic to impale, immobilise enemies or straight up harm them. Use more powers like zooming across certain distances giving you the mobility you need against your foes. The graphics are excellent, the sounds are great and the main character comes out with smart answers, cheeky comments and more. A lot of work went into this game.

Overall we at X35 Earthwalker are happy with what we have seed of Shadow Warriors 2. The developers ‘Flying Wild Hog’ did a fantastic job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker are definitely looking forward to seeing what more gamers have to say about this game. This is worth checking out. Do you like killing demons? Whether you do or not make sure… to like the ‘Earth Walk!’

Human: Fall flat is a new game classed as a open-ended physics based puzzle game. Developed by ‘No Brakes Games’ and coming out May 12th for Xbox One but already out for PC and PS4. This game is strange but in some ways interesting.

From first look in Fall flat you see a blobby, liquidy white man walking around quite wonkyly (not the best dictionary words) around and moving stuff. Sounds strange? Well that’s because it is. Basically that blobby man you control is called Bob and get this… Bob is also a builder. We aren’t making this up. Bob gets recurring dreams of him falling. So your job is to take Bob through his dreams which is full of surprises, puzzles and dangers. Physics are very important in Fall flat. In fact it is specified on their website that the physics are very real. This game should therefore have some high class physics reality.

Fall flat aims to set its self apart from all the other with some very distinct features. There is no script and no limits. You are said to have complete control over Bob. There are 8 worlds and all are fully interactive environments so everything can be interacted with. So carry and climb whatever you want. All the worlds are full of puzzles so there’s lots to do. You can have your own custom Bob which you can paint. Take it further by importing your own face through a webcam.

Lastly and best of all, this Fall flat is co-op. Local co-op so you can your friend can take on the puzzle filled worlds together. Games almost always are better when they have multiplayer features, especially local co-op.

We have checked out some gameplay and we have some mixed feelings but leaning more to a certain side. Fall flat just from looking at it makes you not take the game seriously. From how the character looks to how it walks makes you think “really?” but when you look at what Fall flat is about and trying to accomplish you do, if possible, want to know more. Games that offer more freedom tend to be explored more by players. So basically we would like to know more but we are leaning more towards the side where we won’t go out of our way to try the game. We probably have to see someone else play it first before being convinced.

Lastly – Human: Fall flat

Overall Fall flat is strange and not our kind of thing but it may be for another gamer. The developers ‘No Brakes Games’ are going for something new. We at X35 Earthwalker think this game still needs to prove itself to us. This game might be worth checking out. Whether you think so or not is not even half as important… as the ‘Earth Walk!’

Colony is the newest leader in Halo Wars 2. First of all Colony looks cool. He is a hunter but a hunter in charge. His voice is like one of the coolest voices ever. He speaks simple short sentences but that voice just make us wish we could have it as the new default voice for announcements, answer machines etc. It’s so cool. Now as usual when a new character comes out everyone does nothing but just play that character. X35 Earthwalker yesterday did a livestream where he only uses Colony and in every match there was a Colony. Colony on Colony violence.

Colony stands out greatly from other Banished leaders, not just from how he’s designed but from his units and leader powers. He actually brings some new units into the battlefield. Now when Kinsano came out, We never cared to get her at all. She seemed not that fun to use still seemed similar to the other leaders is many ways. Can’t really blame her since the UNSC are humans meaning they will be similar in units but Colony takes things to the next level.

Colony seems to excel most at being at the front of the battle. Colony has the Goliath infantry units which are giant sized hunters that behave like gorillas. They are all about melee. Goliaths are strong against buildings, alright against infantry, weak against vehicles (for some reason) and can’t hurt air. I know they need to balance out the units in the game but how comes a big strong creature (twice the size of a hunter who are 12 feet tall) are weak against vehicles. Those things could smash them apart but whatever… balancing and all that. Goliaths are no joke. They are literally the best units against buildings. Just two of them do some serious damage against enemy bases. Goliaths also have the ability to ram which is great for dealing with annoying vehicles as it is fast and travels quite the distance.

Colony also brings skitterers which are small little mech bots that scuttle along the ground and fire lasers. These mechs are easy to build and come with the ability we have been waiting for. They can attach themselves to another unit becoming invincible and attacking enemies that come near the attached unit. So you could attach skitterers to Goliaths meaning Goliaths can now defend themselves against air units. You could attach them to hunters so they can defend against air as well. It’s up to you gamers to figure out some crazy combinations. You can attach two skitterers to units by the way.

Colony’s leader powers are very different cool. They really have the ability to mix things up. You immediately have access to living barrier and skitterers. We all know about skitterers but living barrier is something X35 Earthwalker underestimated at first but later saw how good it is. Living barrier let’s you drop down Lekgolo caltrops in a line that completely blocks infantry and vehicles. The enemy has to fight and destroy these barriers to get through. So while they are fighting the barrier you can target the enemy. It’s good for distractions, cutting of the enemy while fleeing, blocking movements, extra eyes around the map and more. It’s only for the strategic.

Engineer swarms calls in many engineers to start healing any units or buildings in range. They stay for quite a while and can really help turn the tide of a battle. Upgrade this ability to make killing your army near impossible. Combat repair makes all your units and buildings slowly heal over time, even in battle. This encourages strikes and retreats, keeping your units alive and building their veterancy since they heal by themselves. Colony drop calls in two level 2 veterancy Goliaths meaning they hit harder and themselves are harder to kill. Vehicle symbiotes allows you to buff selected vehicles and buildings with increased range and armour. So good for turrets on defense and off course your vehicles like locusts. Hunters brand allows you to fire 3 glassing beams that quickly converges in the middle. It’s actually very strong and doesn’t take too long to recharge but when it’s level 2 or 3 it is devastating. Lastly Devastating host lets you drop in multiple different vehicles like wraiths, locusts etc but get a instant buff from a vehicle symbiotes. This is powerful indeed. As you can see Colony is something powerful.

His leader unit, The hunter captain, is a very useful leader. It is a giant hunter, pretty much the same size as the goliath units. This hunter instead comes with shields and can actually fire his cannon at air units (wow). As he does damage he siphon some health back. He’s great against vehicles and infantry, alright against air and buildings. Once upgraded his cannon beam has area of effect so he can damage groups and does more damage overall. He can be upgraded to get the taunt ability which forces nearby enemy units to target the hunter captain instead. This is good since he can take lots of hits and siphon health meaning he won’t die easy. Combine him with Combat repair and Engineer swarm and he’ll never die. His main weakness is that he is so slow. Completely slow. The slowest thing ever and because of this he slows down the whole speed of your army so it takes you forever to cross the map and attack or help out an team mate. That’s the only negative thing.

During the livestream X35 Earthwalker won all his matches with Colony except the match where he was teamed up with a rank 7 and he had to go against level 32 and 41 (round about) and the level 7 team mate left the match. Through practise we have seen just how useful Colony is. He is very powerful and when used correctly can be devastating against everything. He is a lot of fun to use and it’s so satisfying when you beat another player who is using Colony as well. He is worth getting. Whether you try out Colony or not… you can always try the ‘Earth Walk!’

Radian games ‘Crossfire 2’ is one of those games that are awesome and made excellently but never got the love it deserved. I believe the name of the game got changed to ‘Super Crossfire 2’. X35 Earthwalker played this game way back on his Xbox 360. It’s such a shame that not as many gamers as you think had this game.

Straight from the title screen, you just know that this game has got some tunes. The beat is there and it gives the impression that the game has got some action to it. Thankfully it does. Seriously, you have to listen to that music. This game isn’t that deep and complex. It’s actually quite simple with a few game modes: Conquest, Conquest plus and Score attack. Conquest is the main story where you take on 60 waves across 3 different planets. There is a check point every 10 waves but you can heal and upgrade every two waves. Score attack is where you take on 30 repeated levels but they get increasingly harder and you can heal and upgrade every ten levels. Conquest plus is where things get real crazy. Here you will go through the same as Conquest except harder. Much harder.

Crossfire 2 is all about watching everything that’s happening on the screen and those reflexes. If you can’t do both then you will have a hard and time and forget about Conquest plus. You control a small ship and you must blast away the aliens, space invaders style, and stay alive. The game takes things to the next level with your special ability to jump between the top and bottom of the screen. This should be done to avoid bullets or get behind aliens to shoot them in a weak spot or other to force some aliens to direct their attention. The aliens are pretty much always firing and the different types of aliens being there all at once is where all the difficulty comes from. The orange/red pointed alien can fire in the direction it faces. The purple ones that have three segments poking out of it don’t need to face a direction as they can fire both up and down. Also if you jump then they reappear in a different spot. The almost square alien with a large central eye shows his targeting laser and then like a second later fires a dangerous beam exactly where that laser is. There are aliens that makes surrounding aliens invulnerable, others project a filed that if you are in, you can’t jump. There are aliens that explode upon death and release many dangerous projectiles which can be hard to dodge. The worse part is that there are also bigger versions of some aliens who have more health and more dangerous.

When you get to the upgrades screen you instantly get your health replenished. Here you can also spend upgrade points to improve your ship which is something that you need to do. There are upgrades that affect your: ship, shots and superfire. It’s up to you to decide what you need to focus on as you get 3 points every 2 waves so you have to decide what you need now. Prioritise. For example you may decide to increase your ships health, speed and power of your shots making you a powerful solid ship. Or you may focus on increasing fire rate, speed of bullets and spread angle to make hitting the aliens easier than ever. It’s up to you. X35 Earthwalker himself always prioritised spread angle and number of shots first over everything else. He bothers with ship health much later as he believes, if you are good then you won’t get hit that much therefore not requiring increased health yet. See what works best for you though.

There are three difficulties in Crossfire 2: Trainee, hotshot and ace. We seriously don’t believe playing the first two modes are worth it. It’s too easy. Play through Conquest on Ace as it will prepare you for Conquest plus. Conquest plus is so hard that on one play through of it. We almost lost as we had one life left and just about beat it but that’s the thing about Crossfire 2 it can easily get intense. You will sit there watching the entire screen and trying to stay alive and dodge everything while knowing when to jump and use your superfire. By the way ‘Superfire’ is a special weapon which fires like a machine gun but with the power of a minigun. No alien can stay alive for long against it. You get ammunition for it by collecting the purple mini gem like objects that comes from dead aliens. Fill the meter up and let loose when you need it. The power ups in this game are game changers. There are 3. The purple one fully filles up your superfire meter. The yellow one grants temporary invincibility. The green literally slows down time considerably for you. All the aliens move sooooooo slow. So grab these when you can.

Co-op mode is available here. X35 Earthwalker has played with others before and it’s hilarious. The friend would die quite frequently because they struggle to watch everything that’s happening and dodge in time so X35 has to always bring them back at the upgrade screen. It’s so much fun. We will be jumping around, fire non stop and that’s what’s also difficult about this game. There are projectiles pretty much everywhere so some lose track of what’s going on and even lose where their ship is and finds it but only a few moments before it dies.

Overall Crossfire 2 is an amazing game. The graphics are great. The music is great. The sounds are very good. The game could have been bigger but it originally was like an ios game for phones and tablets so it’s acceptable by those standards. It’s a great amount of fun, even to this day. The developers ‘Radian games’ did a fantastic job with this game. Just wished more people had it. This game is still worth checking out. Whether you think this game is great or not is not as important as thinking about… doing the ‘Earth Walk!’
