SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed. Really?

SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed is an action racing game developed by ‘Fair Play Labs‘ and published by ‘tinyBuild‘. SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed is said to be coming out the 3rd of September 2026 on the XBOX Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and PC. X35 Earthwalker mastered speed in Speedrunners so how will the sequel do? SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed looking like it wants to just be the level up sequel. Let’s take a look.

SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed is the sequel to Speedrunners, in case that wasn’t obvious. If you played the first game then you know exactly what you are getting here. The story? What story? It’s basically a weird group of heroes/racers who just like to race in varied and interesting locations. Just accept it. Pick your characters and start running.

Speedrunners 2: King of Speed decided to go with the high-definition graphics style. This is obviously seen in visuals and animations of the characters. This off course players will need to get use to this. We also hear that there’s an improved netcode. So performance and online racing is going to be much better. Now that’s the most obvious change right there. 

The ring of fire is actually cool. It’s better than the just zooming in screen. You see the threat closing in around you and that can make things intense in a different way. The whole zooming screen did off course have intense moments too. It’s good to see different things and changes with a game we known for years etc. Also, watch our for new cats. Just do not trust them.

Sadly, other from that, that is it by the looks of it. The power ups seem to be the same. Besides upgraded visuals of course. Now we will assume that SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed developers are playing with some hidden cards. We hope so because for a sequel, you should have more than just graphic improvements and net cord upgrades. we want a bunch of new characters, new power ups and attacks, new maps and maybe a new mechanic or mechanic layer. 

We checked out some SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed gameplay and it’s not really what we expected. Hopefully the full release will deal with it, but we personally don’t like the framey look of the characters animations but maybe it will grow on us. Krakatoa is getting more respect though, so that’s good to see. Now there’s also the 64 player tournaments you can do and take part in which is a lot. The best thing about SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed is that you can have up to 8 racers in your game. Now that’s true chaos. 

Overall SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed is looking like a good game. If it’s basically the same as the first Speedrunner game then yes it is good by default but we want more. The graphics are great, the animations aren’t by the looks of it. We truly hope that the surprise cool stuff are revealed later. The developers ‘Fair Play Labs’ have done an alright job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will have to keep an ear open concerning SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed. Now SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed may have a new graphic style but it’s far beneath the ability of… the ‘Earth Walk!’
