Guns of Eschaton is a ‘eldenringlike’ First Person Shooter game developed by ‘Eschatology Entertainment‘ and published by ‘4Divinity‘. Guns of Eschaton is said to be coming out the 8th of December 2026 on the Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. X35 Earthwalker hopes this game balances the high difficulty well. Guns of Eschaton clearly wants to do something different with the formula. Let’s take a look.
Guns of Eschaton is about Viktor Antonov and this journey he is on. Going from west to east. It’s an apocalyptic time and America is dying. Time to move on. That’s it. Get moving and make sure to survive along the way. Now off course that alone isn’t enough. This is a video game after all. Throw in some dangerous encounters and weird creatures. There you go.

We call difficult and punishing rpgs like this ‘eldenringlike’ game. Very easy to die, powerful bosses who can kill you in two hits’ three hits or one shot. Time your dodges or parries to create openings and advantages etc. Guns of Eschaton is about that difficult and uses that style. Every encounter the player is supposed to plan it out and make sure to gear up for that encounter. Batman prep time?

Rumour has it, that there’s over 20 weapons. The focused theme for these weapons is “19th century firearms”. So hopefully the weapons are loud too. What’s more concerning is that these weapons are said to have a “character of its own” and that failing to master some of these weapons could result in the weapon killing you. Wait?! Our own weapon can kill us?!
There’s abilities, both active and passive. Then there’s talismans which bring their effects to the table. On top of that there’s armour but also custom bullets. Then there’s three sacramental paths. Sigh… There’s more… There’s iconic figures and “legendary gunslingers” for players to learn from. Especially tricks. Create your own builds. Or create them together. That’s right, you can play with some friends. Co-op action confirmed.

We checked out some Guns of Eschaton gameplay and it’s what we expected for the most part. The factions that you encounter and face should be recognisable as they are from mythologies but messed with. Then a unique touch is your hand drawn cherokee codex. It will include information like rituals, weak points, hidden rules, enemy behaviour and anatomy. Make sure to pay attention to this and use it.
Overall Guns of Eschaton is looking to be a unique a difficult game. The first ‘first person’ eldenringlike game was Valor mortis but Guns of Eschaton has the means to be the strongest entry. For starters this apocalypse is called “The Burning”. Reality is bending, myths are here and more crazy nonsense. The developers ‘Eschatology Entertainment’ have done a great job so far. We at X35 Earthwalker will keep an ear open concerning this game. Now Guns of Eschaton may have Batman prep time but even that is not enough to beat… the ‘Earth Walk!’
