Minecraft Dungeons 2. Title screen. X35 Earthwalker

Minecraft Dungeons 2 is so far an excellent game and it’s even more fun with a squad obviously. Another excellent XBOX game. Mojang definitely shakes some things up for sure from the first game. To know more about that and more then listen to the X35 Earthwalker podcast episode. Now one of the shake ups is the difficulty. Oh dear. Let’s take a look.

Minecraft Dungeons 2 X35 Earthwalker

Minecraft Dungeons 2 is a difficult game. This is no joke. Just because it’s Minecraft, that does not mean that things are friendly and sweet around here. Everything else works the same but the enemies hit real hard. For starters the zombies now smack harder forcing you to not just get in there and swing. dodging matters more than before. dodging off course is on a cool down so can’t be spammed (rightfully so). The healing is also on a cool down. So getting overwhelmed is a real thing.

Then the zombies have a specific type which really suck. A poison type zombie that inflicts poison with each hit. This can cause panic with the low health we have. Then you have the skeletons firing quick quickly with arrows. Creepers are capable of one shooting or easily taking the rest of your life. Little zombies are fast and won’t let you escape. Spider jockies just complicate the situation. Then the aggressive illagers who hit hard and faster than you in terms of movement.  Then there’s new creatures you see in the rift who are quite tanky. Remember that off course all this is doable still.

Minecraft Dungeons 2. Big world explore. X35 Earthwalker

Now this doesn’t sound that crazy and it is still manageable. Just get strategic, make sure to dodge, use your arrows/ranged equipment and value your healing. This almost doesn’t prepare you for the bosses though. The bosses are lethal and truly want you dead. The very first proper boss fight is an enchanted witch. This witch ca cover multiple areas with poison, summon special slime enemies to attack you and it’s a lot of them. The witch also has a direct long range explosive flask throw. This boss will destroy new players easily. Add on top that the bosses have tons of health and do high damage.

This boss killed X35 Earthwalker three times in a row. Then there’s worse threats like the big warden guys. Those guys are bullies and will chase you down. Each hit does so much damage. You can’t tank or go blow for blow. Remember that healing is on a cooldown. We have sen platers get folded up in a corner by these guys. Minecraft Dungeon 2 is definitely a hard game. The difficulty stays consistent as the mobs level in difficulty when you level yup and get stronger get past a certain point. The game clearly announces it on the screen. So what? The mobs are hitting the gym and levelling up too?

Minecraft Dungeons 2. Unique gear and weapons. X35 Earthwalker

X35 Earthwalker knew that Minecraft Dungeons 2 starts of brutal but once you have a build and get better equipment, things become balanced to maybe even unfair. It got real unfair sort of quick in Minecraft Dungeons 1. This is still true as we got further but takes a while. Even with good gear, cool weapons and some build chemistry, the fights can still go real south fast. Not just the bosses. Players really have to get tactical a lot of the time. Less cruise and casual and more focus. Now obviously if you play with a squad of 4 people then assuming the games difficulty doesn’t adjust for that, the game would be easy. So we have to be fair and remember that Minecraft Dungeons 2 is designed to be a co-op game.

Overall Minecraft Dungeons 2 is in fact a difficult game. Still an excellent and fun game and better than the first game in almost every way but difficult still. X35 Earthwalker welcomes the challenge off course. We will have to see more of what Minecraft Dungeons have to offer. Off course X35 Earthwalker has some powerful gear and weapons now with options in builds and destroying foes tactically. Now Minecraft Dungeons 2 may have difficult bosses and high difficulty but it’s no match for… the ‘Earth Walk!’
