Gene Rain

Gene Rain is a new futuristic third person sci-fi shooter developed by ‘Deeli Network‘. Gene Rain is coming out on the Xbox One the 24th of July and some time later on the PC but it’s already out on the Play Station 4. Let’s take a look.

In Gene Rain, players take control of the death squad who’s job is to stop the gene rain. The gene rain is basically a spray agent that can mutate genes, which got released into the air. Yep you can guess that this is bad. The agent mixes into the rain. So mutating rain everywhere which causes some issues. The Death squad is made up of three members: Alex, Salman and LiYing.

Gene Rain

Alex is the leader and is human but also part robot. Salman is known as the shield of the Death squad and is a mechanical human. LiYing is all human and called the soldier of the Death sqaud. Quite an interesting mixture of characters in Gene Rain. from all robot to half and full human. Even though they are different it has been made clear that they all have the same goal.

Gene Rain has quite a lot of lore, history and back story. Even on their steam page is quite a lot of information from 2049 to 2089. So it’s worth checking out for that extra information. There are three different forces who are clashing with each other. Unlike the Death squad these forces have their own agendas and goals. Let’s hope the death squad are ready for this.

Gene Rain

There are 9 weapons confirmed in Gene Rain and the three main weapons can be upgraded. There are also a good amount of character attributes which can all be upgraded also. In terms of level design and environments there are four types of areas you can encounter. They are: A quiet town, a dark city, a destroyed city and a deep canyon. So basically three city like areas and one cave like place. Not much variety here but they are doing what they can with what they have. We respect that here at X35 Earthwalker.

In terms of the enemies as that’s very important, there is 12 in Gene Rain. Each one is different having it’s own behaviour and attributes. Some examples are the jumping spider which are fast moving can jump very far and like elevated areas to fire down at targets. The thunder has a strong defence and high amounts of fire power. The hunt fly is all about speeding towards you, latches on and then aims to explode. Inspectors are tough, can give commands, very tactical and have long range sight. There are more, some of which can be a real problem.

We checked out some Gene Rain gameplay and so far it’s good for what it is. It’s not a game you can compare to Gears of war or Halo and their super high quality. What the developers have made works well. The companion A.I seem too slow to react especially if an enemy gets past them to come for you. The enemies however do look very cool. This game looks like it will be a huge problem on high difficulties. Some weapons look very weak but there are some strong powerful ones. Good amount of guidance for campaign allowing players to know where to go.

Overall Gene Rain looks like a cool game. It’s a nice project and it’s looking good. The graphics look very good. The sounds are alright. The level design does need more variety. The developers ‘Deeli Network’ did an excellent job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker say keep it up and go on to make better games. Now Gene Rain may have the Death Sqaud but they are no match for… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Crazy Justice

Crazy Justice is a new third person shooter game developed by ‘Black Riddles Studios‘. It’s coming out later this year on the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC. There is lots of information on this game and it was successfully funded by gamers, more than passing their required amount. Let’s take a look.

Crazy justice, straight way from the character design and graphic style, should remind many players of another game. Maybe Fortnite… Now not much information is given concerning the story but we do know that players control a character who is out to stop the forces of evil, like every other story. You do this by activating hidden Tesla coils. Don’t ask us why. This all however cause some major issues in the world, lots of chaos. The enemy is the steampunk horde. Crazy Justice aims to deliver an entertaining action packed story. The main focus of the game is actually the multiplayer.

As you play you will collect items and even win items too. Find new heroes, collect special weapons. There is character customisation and players can construct their own skill decks. In the final version of the game, players can battle it out with their character on five different maps in five different game modes. Games like this have one thing in common… continual expansion. Gamers should expect additional content and downloads coming to Crazy Justice to add more to the game.

Crazy Justice

The multiplayer game modes are very different to each other. ‘Survive the Tesla’ is where there is a Tesla coil in the middle of the map. it’s generating a shield. As players battle and kill each other, that shield gets smaller and smaller until the max limit. If you are out of the shield, you die. Simple right? ‘Survive’ has 6 sectors. Over time each sector one by one will be destroyed. Players in that area must run for their lives. Lastly everyone will be in one sector to settle the score once and for all. ‘Protect the Tesla’ is two teams facing off against each other. Both teams have a Tesla to defend and it’s surrounded by a fortress, which can be upgraded if players have the right amount of materials. Build traps and other defence systems to help. Whoever destroys the enemy Tesla or has done the most damage wins.

Crazy Justice did something right that many games have done wrong. The biggest offender of this is off course Halo 5 Guardians. Crazy Justice supports local splitscreen multiplayer. Players can even connect an external controller, allowing for some great gameplay with friends.

It’s clear that the developers of Crazy Justice got some inspirations from others game, which is a good thing and learnt from other games too. For example all the maps in Crazy Justice have both high and low cover for characters to hide behind and fire from. just like in Gears of war.

Crazy Justice

The game has lots of destructible environments. Now destructible environments are excellent additions to games. They allow for deeper layers of multiplayer strategies, it’s more fun and makes the game more realistic since we know for a fact that rockets and blood up rocks in many cases. We have seen a player shoot out a floor, so that they can descend into the area below. Pretty cool. By the way, this destructible environment was done using Unreal Engine 4 and Nvidia Phyx

Crazy Justice is very versatile and this is why. Crazy Justice supports some crazy Cross-Network play! That’s right. Players who own Crazy Justice can play with players from the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. For preference reasons, players will have the option to only play with same platform players as well. Having a choice is a great move.

We checked out some gameplay and Crazy Justice definitely reminds us off Fortnite but more of a steam punk like style and more ground based combat. It’s not battle royal but has different game modes as we mentioned above. The building system is like Dungeon Defenders 2, simple but works. The cover system works well with the destructible environment. This means that multiplayer will be quite dynamic.

Overall Cray Justice looks like a great game. Seems like a friendly place for casual gamers to step into. Obvious aspects for competitive and pro players to dive into and a good amount of variety. Plus new content will be coming over time which is a great sign. The graphics are good for it’s style, the sounds fit the theme and style of the game. The developers ‘Black Riddles studio’ did a excellent job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker are looking forward to what crazy Justice truly has to offer gamers. Now Crazy Justice isn’t about justice at all, but one thing that does have justice is… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Song of Horror

Song of Horror is a new cinematic third person survival horror game developed by ‘Protocol Games‘. It’s coming out on Xbox One, PS4 and PC later this year. Now this is one song that you don’t want to sing. To be honest survival isn’t guaranteed either but this game does look interesting. Let’s take a look.

Song of Horror takes place in an ordinary world. It’s a Friday. Players control Daniel Noyer who is a advertiser and former entrepreneur. Probably guessed it but Daniel has fallen on some tough times recently. At a publishers house, Daniel receives an urgent but, appears simple, assignment. You must find Sebastian P. Hunter. Why is there always a Sebastian? Sebastian P. Hunter is the company’s top client and most important. Strange thing though, is that no one has heard from him in weeks.

Song of Horror

You realise something is wrong when you arrive at gushers mansion. Like in all other horror games and movies, the lights are all out. Even though it’s night time. This suggests that no one is home. There is even a beware of the dog sign but yet there isn’t a dog around at all. No one is home by the looks of it. We could always just turn around, head home, maybe call the police but noo. Daniel isn’t Caribbean or African so off course he still investigates and goes in through the main door left ajar.

Song of Horror aims to give players a thrilling movie like experience. The camera in this game is fully automated and could be your downfall simply because it does whatever it wants. It follows the player, turns to face you, backs away and more to create tension and mess with your head concerning what’s about to happen. Song of Horror is also quite large. There is 16 different characters for players to take control off. Yes the main protagonist is Daniel but these other characters are normal everyday men and women who are also exploring the mansion and locations. They must solve riddles, check item and off course stay alive. Can you keep them all alive or will they all receive an untimely end?

Song of Horror

Players must make sure to investigate and check everything in Song of Horror as every clue and observation could be really crucial. You can’t afford to miss anything. Survival is off course the main thing in this game. Staying alive isn’t easy as all it takes to die is to make one mistake or one bad decision. Song of Horror is quite big on mysteries as there are many puzzles and riddles around ranging full on enigmas to simple locked doors. So basically from basic and straight forward to dangerous sneaky and deceptive.

At the start of most chapters, you get the choice of which character to use to face the dangers. All the characters except Daniel have one life. That’s right! Permanent death is here. So truly be careful. If you lose everyone then you have to start the chapter again. To make things even more tense and difficult, there is no going back. No manual saving! So no saving before entering a room, then when you die, load your last save. That’s cowardly.

Last of all you’ve us mention death and dying  before but what enemies are we facing. There are no enemies (sort off) and there is no combat. In Song of Horror players will face ‘The Presence’ which is a manifestations of an eldritch. The presence will warp reality and mess with you in many ways. It will lie in wait for you or simply haunt you. It can effect lighting and even the very atmosphere. It will even set traps which could kill you. So be on your guard and make sure to know when to run, hide, react etc. The presence is no joke.

We checked out some gameplay and it’s looking real cool right now. We like how it’s going for the skeleton undead looking creatures like from the mummy returns at the end. We truly hope that Song of Horror’s decisions and situations does sort of play like a great series we know (which we won’t name). A good number of things to look at and take into account, sudden breaking mirror for miniature jump scares. The Presence though looks like a real problem. It has different forms and springs out at annoying moments. Forcing all players to constantly be on guard.

Overall Song of Horror looks like a very good game. The horror is alright, the jump scares are in nice supply. The graphics are good, nothing special but the sounds are better, adding to the atmosphere. We need to see a bit more of the automated camera though. The developers ‘Protocol games’ did a very good job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker look forward to seeing what Song of Horror has to offer gamers. Now Songs can be wonderful but no where near as wonderful as… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a third person hack and slash adventure game developed by ‘Ninja Theory‘. It’s coming out on the Xbox One the 11th of April but already out on PS4 and PC. This game has been given good reviews. Let’s take a look.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is set in the viking times which off course means norse mythology. It’s about a celtic warrior named Senua, who begins a quest and not just any quest for this one mainly takes place in her mind. The players get to dive in also. What’s Senua’s aim? She is fighting for the soul of her dead lover. Basically entering viking hell. So like Dante’s Inferno but not as cool.

Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice also features three modes on the Xbox One X. To make things simple: The High Framerate keeps frame rates at 60 frames per second, High resolution mode will off course make resolution a priority while Enhanced visuals will boost the graphical and effects. More information concerning the three modes will come closer to release date.

The game is more than just a game as the developers wanted to tackle the issue of psychosis. The main character, Senua, suffers from it and it does add that extra layer of deepness to the game. Matter of fact their website has a help section that allows people who deal with psychosis to find help in their area which is very thoughtful and we at X35 Earthwalker like that very much.

The game has received mostly good reviews and Xbox gamers can get 10% off on the Microsoft store until the end of it’s launch week. The cost we believe is £25 ($30).

We checked out some gameplay and it does look interesting. It’s definitely more psychological. The combat isn’t as heavy and it’s said to be a more linear experience. What’s really cool is that your character hears voices that are in her head but with the right settings and head set it almost sound like it’s in your head as well. The graphics are great and with the Xbox One X it can only get better. Sounds are great but the voices are much better. Professionally recorded.

Overall Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a good game. It’s interesting and got some messages in there for gamers to take note of but we find it too much mind action and less of combat. it’s quite basic at times. The puzzles can get annoying. It’s not really our kind of game. The developers ‘Ninja Theory’ did a great job with Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Now Senua is basically messed up and the only thing that can truly help is… the ‘Earth Walk!’
