Mega Man 11

Mega Man 11 came out and many gamers jumped on it. Off course Youtubers and streamers got in on the action too (they can’t miss their chance for views right). So far the majority all agree that Mega Man 11 is a very good game. People are a fan of the graphics and the music. Many are also saying that the game is difficult as well. That’s where we disagree. Take a look.

Mega man games are normally known for being very difficult as in many people struggle to even beat the game. Mega Man 11 doesn’t have the same pattern. This will probably trigger some players of Mega Man but we don’t care. We find Mega Man 11 to be too easy. Off course we will explain why. The levels and how players are suppose to beat them reminds us off Spelunky. As in the first time you try them, there will be some surprises but if you sort of take your time and see what’s going on, you can get through them without dying. Spelunky becomes easy once you know all the tricks but with Mega Man 11 it’s easier because the enemies and what they do is predictable and almost all of them move very slowly.

Next is the fact that the weapons you get from defeating the eight bosses are very good most of the time. The acid barrier from Acid man provides additional protection especially if you combine it with the power gear ability. So if there’s a room that looks dangerous due to projectiles then this shield makes everything easier. Tundra storm, which you get from Tundra man, combined with the power gear allows you to basically clear the whole room so rooms with many enemies on screen can’t lay a finger on you. The weapons in Mega Man 11 are great and we like how effective they are, just keep an eye on your ammo for each weapon.

The bosses themselves are not that difficult at all either. Some like Block man have some very easy to dodge attacks like charging in a straight line or dropping things from the ceiling but give you time to react. They do have patterns so once you learn their patterns which doesn’t take long, beating them then isn’t an issue. They get even easier if you know their weaknesses. In case you didn’t know, each boss is weak against a weapon that you get from another boss. They take a lot more damage. For example Torch man is easily beaten by the Tundra storm from tundra man. Bounce man gets destroyed by the pile driver from Impact man. Block man doesn’t stand a chance against the chain blast from Blast man. Fuse man hates bounce balls from Bounce man. You get the point by now.

So the levels and bosses aren’t difficult, in fact it can even be easy. What makes Mega Man completely easy? Glad you asked. It’s the fact that players can purchase items and upgrades to help you out. You can buy multiple energy tanks to full restore your health if you are about to die. You can get a bird item (Beat call) which protects you from falling into pits. Shoes that protect against spikes that instant kill you. Automatic charged shots, a mystery tank which can turn weak enemies into 1-ups, Super guard which halves all damage you take for the duration of that stage (dying removes the effect as well), make your shots bigger meaning easier hit on enemies and many more items. If you can’t beat the bosses while all damage is halved, your shots are bigger, have reduced knock back and can fully restore your health more than five times in a single fight then put down your controller, turn off the console and slowly back away from the game and never play it ever again. You can’t tell us that Mega Man 11 isn’t really easy.

Mega Man 11

The last thing that Mega Man has that makes things even easier is the new game mechanic called the Double gear system. Now once again, we like this addition to the game. It’s powerful, it’s fun and looks cool. It doesn’t change the fact that it does make things easier. You can do so much extra damage to bosses when you combine your weapons with the power gear but also slow down time (technically Mega man speeds up) to avoid attacks and escape from traps. A boss is about to do something, then slow down time and dodge without issue. Off course you must make sure to not overload the device otherwise you can’t use it again for a good while. When you combine the boss weaknesses, options you have for dealing with levels, the different weapons, the double gear system and off course the numerous items you can buy and equip, Mega Man 11 is an easy game. Don’t sit there and get mad, either grow up or square up.

If you go into the challenges section there are 9 different challenges for players to try, and here is where things get difficult. This is also where things get competitive as leaderboards come into play. Off course there is more than what you see as Boss Rush splits into two challenges one the second needing to be unlocked. Here are the challenges listed:

  • Time attack – complete each stage as fast as possible
  • Jump saver – get to the boss area using as few jumps as possible
  • Buster break down – get to the boss using as few attacks as possible
  • score attack – defeat enemies and collect all the points you can. Get extra points for defeating multiple enemies in a row
  • Balloon Rush – go through the stage while destroying blue balloons, get time penalty for hitting red balloons or missing blue ones.
  • Medal collector – race to collect all the medals as fast possible if any is left behind, you get sent back
  • Playground – complete challenges within a time limit
  • Boss rush – time attack but with the eight stage bosses
  • For Light’s Trial – fight through 30 “ultra tough” areas. Complete a minimum of 10 to get your score uploaded to the leaderboard

So the challenges are clearly harder but the main game is where we are focusing on.

Now as we stated in the beginning, we think Mega Man 11 is a very good game, it looks good, it played good, new additions are good, some of the bosses look cool and it’s definitely fun. We just think it’s too easy. Now Mega Man 11 may be a very good game but it’s nothing when compared to… the ‘Earth Walk!’

Mega Man 11

Mega Man 11 is the latest and 11th main game, in the Mega man series and is being developed by ‘Capcom‘. It is coming out the 2nd of October 2018 on the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC. The Blue bomber is back. Let’s take a look.

In Mega Man 11, Mega Man must fight even more robots (doesn’t he get bored). This time he is facing the robot masters to save the day. He’s the only one who can do it… but… will the bad guys let him? The robot masters are strong and very dangerous. You know the drill, each one stands out, has different abilities and patterns of attack. Once defeated Mega Man can take their weapons for himself.

Mega Man 11

Something different though. When he gets their weapons it actually changes the appearance of Mega Man. For example if players defeat Block man (lame name) and get his weapon, then Mega Man has the same shape but gets different colours, a heavy looking helmet and his cannon is replaced with a bigger rocky hand. It’s a good touch to add to the game and it makes you want to know what other looks he will have when he gets the other weapons too.

Now Mega Man fans should be happy that things like the gameplay are pretty much how you remember it. as in run, shoot, jump, shoot, evade, shoot, slide and shoot some more. Mega Man did get an upgrade though. Introducing the double gear system. With this Mega Man becomes more powerful and versatile. He can either boost the power of his mega buster to completely destroy enemies or even slow down time allowing players to dodge attacks and maneuver much more easily. Now that’s an upgrade. He still wouldn’t be able to beat Astro boy in a death battle but he’s getting there.

Mega Man 11

There’s more. Mega Man 11 have extra modes like missions and time trials. There is also galleries containing concept art and for competitive reasons, there is also a global leaderboards. Now concerning difficulty, as we know Mega Man is also known for it’s high difficulty. Mega Man 11 has multiple difficulty modes meaning seasoned Mega Man fans can pick a high difficulty to get the classic feel while new players can get something easier. So read and pick wisely.

We checked out some gameplay and Mega Man 11 looks really good. It does seem quite classic as well. The new graphic style works well in our opinion. The back grounds and environments are very well done as well. Things look very smooth as well. It does not look that difficult though but then again, looking and playing are two different things. The robot masters are looking real cool though, especially Fuse Man. The effects are very good.

Overall Mega Man 11 looks like a very good game. We don’t have a problem with the graphics, too many gamers are being complainers, like what they do with every new Halo game. Not everything can stay the same. The developers ‘Capcom’ did a good job with this game. We at X35 Earthwalker are looking forward to seeing what Mega Man 11 has to offer. Now Mega Man has some strong enemies to face but none are as strong as… the ‘Earth Walk!’

20XX

20XX is a action platformer developed by ‘BatteryStaple Games‘. It’s coming out on the Xbox One the 11th of July, PS4 and Nintendo Switch the 10th of July but already out on PC. Now 20XX has been heavily inspired by Mega Man and it’s clear but do they have more to offer? let’s take a look.

There isn’t much of a story in 20XX. Basically players are fighting to save the human race (maybe). We say maybe because that what the developers keep putting after that sentence. So are we the good guys? What’s really going on here? Guess you’ll have to play to find out. Just like Mega Man X players must run, jump, shoot and blast their way through enemies and levels. 20XX does offer gamers a bit more though.

20XX is also rougelike. You know what that means. Yes, the levels are all random and always changing. 20XX uses procedural level generation algorithm that combines different game mechanics to also change  how players handle each level. Some levels will have more emphasis on combat while another may be heavy in platforming like timing jumps. The more difficult ones will be the combination of heavy platforming and dangerous combat.

20XX

Like any good rough like game there are many power ups and all are random as well. There are over 100 power ups. As you play through 20XX players will earn soul chips, which can be used to expand the pool of items you can find and get powerful upgrades which are permanent. You can also buy upgrades back at your HQ to make future runs easier. By way did we mention ‘die’?

Dying is the last thing you want to do in 20XX (duh) because there is permanent death too. Once you die, yes you go back to HQ for the opportunity to buy upgrades but you will have to start again. Like Spelunky. It gets better. Players have the options of playing different modes and there are difficulty modifiers too. So like with the skulls in Halo players can really change up the game to some extend to make things easier or super challenging.

20XX

20XX’s biggest feature and the thing that gets people’s attention is it’s multiplayer. Yep. Full co-op for all gameplay features both locally and online. So get that gaming couch out and call that friend over. You have some blasting and jumping to do together. Lastly to keep things flowing and give players objectives there are weekly and daily challenges.

We checked out some gameplay and it’s what we thought it would be. We do love the power ups though. like the sharp sharp spear which has more range and damage. The Pollster boss looks simple and dumb at first but then things escalate real fast with him killing first time players almost too quickly. It’s all good and done very well. 20XX definitely got the Mega Man look and feeling down and as it’s more modern looks like it did a better job than Mega Man its self.

Overall 20XX looks like an awesome game. If you are a fan of Mega Man then you will love 20XX. The graphics and sounds are excellent. The game flows smoothly and the controls are said to be very good indeed. The level designs are quite clever with platforming, enemies and even traps. The developers ‘BatteryStaple Games’ did an fantastic job with this game. We at X345 Earthwalker look forward to seeing this come to consoles. Now 20XX may have been inspired but way more have been inspired by… the ‘Earth Walk!’
