South of Midnight. Game of the Year Contender

South of Midnight is an awesome game. We are saying that right off the truck. South of Midnight is an action adventure game developed by ‘Compulsion games‘ and published by ‘Xbox Game Studios‘. South of Midnight 100% is worth playing. X35 Earthwalker not only beat the whole game, he has 100% it… not only that, X35 has got all the achievements too. There’s so much to say about this game.

South of Midnight gives players a unique and powerful gaming experience. Off the top of our head, we can’t think of another game like South of Midnight. It joins another legendary game in that category. That other super amazing game is Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. Both these games have unique single player stories that are emotional, strong stuff, and in some cases quite powerful. We definitely believe South of Midnight is worthy of being in that rank. Gamers, do not skip South of Midnight. This is worth playing. You might learn something too.

Hazel Flood is the star and main character of South of Midnight. She is now one of our favourite female gaming characters. She is young, lots to learn but has clear dreams and hobbies. She is very relatable and you can understand her relationships with other characters and her behaviour towards them. She makes mistakes, quite a bit but learns and get things done. She becomes strong but she’s no super hero or overpowered being. Someone with a clear purpose and meaningful job. She’s a weaver after Mahalia. We love Hazel Flood. Oh and don’t forget about Crouton. Little guy is very useful and loyal.

South of Midnight has awesome boss fights. Two toed tom, Rougarou and Huggin Molly. These boss fights are unique from each other and how you fight them is very different too. These bosses are also foreshadowed too. Cool detail. There’s an achievement for beating these three without taking any damage at all. Tough but doable. What makes them stand out more is the music. south of Midnight has amazing music. Crazy good. The artists did amazing jobs. X35 Earthwalker has access to the full music, James, songs etc of the game. Listening to them is good times. If you can, check them out.

There’s so much more to say about South of Midnight but X35 does it best in straight talking. There’s a podcast episode where X35 Earthwalker reviews the game. Later turned it into a YouTube video. So make sure to listen or watch to get even more information. He talks about the story, the characters, the combat which flows wonderfully and is quite deep for the mechanics that’s present, lore in the game and more was discussed. This game is deep and a easy conversation starter about deep topics from the suffering and brutal history of the south to what beautiful did come later. 

Overall South of Midnight is an amazing game. From the combat, sounds, accurate portrayal of the south, the lore, the combat and the graphics and stop motion animations, is just a clear passion filled project that was done right. Many many gamers played and truly enjoyed the game. some even hailing it game of the year already. It’s a clear contender for us. X35 wishes to see this game get the respect it deserves. X35 Earthwalker easily gives it a 10/10. Another Xbox banger. Fantastic job Compulsion games. Now South of Midnight may be a 10/10 game but it’s still not as good as… the Earth Walk!’
